Becoming

Life is hard. Adulting can be damn near impossible at times. And there are sometimes, no matter what you do, things viciously fall apart. You feel hopeless and nothing you can do can change your circumstances. Things end - relationships, friendships, careers, etc. Fear and anxiety build up and, sometimes, you just lose it. Taking one step forward, you step on a landmine and end up well back from your starting point. What gives? Why has this beautiful abundant universe forsaken you?

It hasn’t. And in time, you realize, it is giving you exactly what you asked for. This blog is being written as much as a reminder to me, as it is to all who read it and re-read it in the future. I have been here so many times, and it can really be disheartening. It doesn’t have to be though. These are all signs of becoming. Spiritual, mental, emotional awakens and development seldom happen over night. Becoming one with your true essence, growing into your Soul’s purpose, and transcending the ego - all the things that make your spirit sing - are often met with adversity, harsh words, obstacles, and frustration.

And we never just go through one of these phases either. They happen again and again. And yes, there’s lessons to learn, strengths to build, and spiritual epiphanies to be had, which is all well and good, but that knowledge seldom helps when we’re transitioning to them.

But that’s what is always is - it’s a transition. And if you’ve ever had the slightest desire to grow, this is your opportunity. You can let the fear overwhelm you - you are more than allowed to shed some tears - but don’t let it break you. Fear, I’ve found, is only truly conquered by one thing… Hope. Hope is like one, lonely candle, in an impossibly dark room. You have the match. When you light that candle, no matter how small, the darkness flees! No, it’s not going to be all love, light and sparkles - if that’s what you were hoping for, this is the wrong blog - but it will be enough to get you thru and accomplish some amazing things. After all, the lotus is only birthed thru mud, extreme pressure creates diamonds, and only fire refines gold.

And there’s always someone looking out for you.

Call it Source, Spirit, Deity, guardian Angel the Universe, intuition, etc - it’s always there, and if you listen to it, it will never fail you! If you don’t, well, that’s another post all together! But you can always trust it, even when you don’t want to. Cut away what no longer serves you, be it emotions, relationships, even material possessions. Know that endings always beget new beginnings. Clear away the clutter - cluttered house, cluttered mind! And if fear or anxiety comes to overtake you, allow yourself a damn good cry, combat it the best way you know how, and then keep going. You were born this amazingly powerful, creative creature - it’s time to own that. What are you becoming? That’s all the reason in the world to persist!
